About the event

60 minute injury prevention- or treatment-based massage therapy session with PoleStrong Bodyworks. ($1 holds reservation, $70 due at time of appointment plus tip)

Why PoleStrong?

"PoleStrong is bodywork by pole dancers for pole dancers. It is rehabilitative and preventative massage therapy specifically tailored to the physical demands of performance art. You will never have to explain what it is that you do with your body, you will never feel judged for having muscle issues, and if you say "I have a performances coming up," we will discuss how you can best stay safe in your training rather than telling you not to train for a month.

The goal of every massage is to reduce soft tissue restrictions to help your muscles move freely. You will also be provided with anatomy/physiology education. Healthy, unrestricted muscles along with body awareness are key to having good technique which is, in turn, a key element of injury prevention.

While there are many elements of injury prevention, these are the ones that I can provide so I am therefore VERY committed to them.

PoleStrong Bodyworks serves members of other performing arts communities as well including circus, burlesque, and drag. Needless to say, all types of queer and gender non-conforming folks are more than welcome here, and you won't have to apologize if were unable to get all the glitter off before your massage."

LMT Bio: "PoleStrong Bodyworks is owned and operated by Sally Sachs, LMT. Sally is an avid pole/aerial performer, competitor, and instructor at The Brass Ring Chicago. She uses her knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics to inform both her teaching and massage practice. She is extremely aware of the physical demands of pole dance as well as common pole-related injuries. Her approach to massage revolves around the philosophy that athletes are less likely to get injured and can perform at a higher level if they have access to full range of motion. She works to remove restriction in movement helping you reach higher levels of strength and flexibility, while also specializing in injury rehabilitation."
